Queen is much closer to "regular rock music" and much more affected

Everything Freddie does is affected in his theatrical style, it's not a bad thing, but to say VU sounds affected by comparison?

Makes no sense yo, VU is proto punk
I mean VU are affected in the arty sense, but **** if they don't go good with that ****. So I absolutely do not see the problem.

I mean they're not my favorite band but they got some seriously good **** and "Yellow Submarine" is absolutely one of the most fun songs ever recorded.

Well played I guess
There are still plenty of MB members that haven't yelled at me yet for talking **** about VU and those other bands, so I don't think I've won the thread yet.

It's kind of hard to explain in clear terms what I mean. Sure, Queen is heavily theatrical, but that's something I don't mind and all. Sincerity and theatricality are both things I like in muisc.

VU come off as more like a bunch of dudes trying really hard to seem cool.

I 100% expect no one to agree, but maybe someone will at least see what I mean by that.

The ****? Sincere is like the first word I would use to describe the VU & Nick.

I just don't hear it that way. Which is not to say that I don't believe they were actually sincere. It's more of an attempt at describing how the expression comes off to me, purely in terms of the subjective listening experience. There's something about the delivery that keeps me at an arms distance. I can't connect with it at all.

Again, just a thing where I don't see eye to eye with quite a bit of rock music.

It's generally pretty cold and stoic. That might not seem like a sincere mood for most people, but it fits for a bunch of people on heroin.

Weirdly enough, the only time I've even remotely connected with Reed was on Lulu. Pretty bad album overall, but there were some affecting vocal passages. He sounds like such a frail old man on that sadly misguided album.

In a different way that doesn't bother me, basically. That's really it.
