I'm sure it's great, but it's only a classic to Dixie Dreg fans, and those who know of them. I could say "Forgotten sons" is an undisputed classic, and any Marillion fan would agree with me, but anyone else would tell me to get bent. It's only an undisputed classic, I think I'm safe in saying, if everyone thinks so. You don't like the Doors? Fine, but you agree "Riders" and "Light my fire" are undisputed classics. Not a fan of George Michael? But you'd agree "Careless whisper" is an undisputed classic. Never listened to The Adventures but think "Drowning in the sea of love" is an undisputed classic? Ah, no. That's where it breaks down and falls apart.

I think there are certain songs that will be accepted by just about everyone as undisputed classics. "Dock of the bay". "Smoke on the water". "Riders" etc. There are songs that transcend both taste and genres. I know of plenty of songs I love, or would at least admit are classics, that are in genres I am not interested in. "Fly me to the moon". Wouldn't listen to Sinatra usually but I can accept that is a classic.

I get where you are coming from Troll. And ya, I was speaking as a die hard Dregs fan.
Anyhoo, welcome back brother.

To take Trolls point a step further, Sitting on the Dock of the Bay is a classic to me and him partially because of our age. My 27 year old son wouldn't think the same way about that song. Lots of people hate Stairway to Heaven and would call it overrated and overplayed and not a classic. A lot of folks would consider Anarchy in the UK a classic. I wouldn't. Take 10 members here and ask them to list 10 undisputed classics and I'll wager you'd get quite a bit of disagreement.
