I think I'll stick to calling a spade a spade.

I'm not using boring to mean slow or sparse or minimal, I'm using boring in the sense that the music feels so overdone and pointless that it bores me. I've heard the penatonic scale, Satriani has nothing to offer me. This means that even something upbeat or fast can bore me.

My only point is that you shouldn't put the "boring" label on it if it obviously isn't. Your initial post describing it as boring came off as if you weren't basing it off your taste, but instead putting the label on it as if it deserved to have the label.

Maybe that's my own fault for taking what you said as different than what you meant.

Than you're mislabeling something that isn't meant to be labeled. Of course it all boils back to taste, but when you say something is boring, you're going to get people (like me) that think otherwise based on the root of why it isn't boring at all.

I think i'm using boring as a different term than you are, hence our differing takes on the word.

I think that's where we're getting confused, yes. I generally don't call music boring unless it really is boring. Which is ironic because I love post-rock. Yes, I'm admitting to my own faults.
