Now I'm just gonna sound unreasonable grumpy, but here goes:
I honestly think that most bands and solo artists ever have bad to mediocre lyrics. Even the good bands and solo artists. Notable exceptions would be Suzanne Vega and Kate Bush. Probably others too, but it seems to me most bands just throw some words in there cuz u gotta sing something, I guess? |

I don't give a **** about the doors either. And the cure.
I find it hard to even judge most lyrics. I tend to not pay much attention to them, I just want them to sound nice for the vocal melodies. I do hate the average love and sex song lyrics so much it annoys me to extreme extends. I'm too retarded to understand most lyrics so I just go by what sounds nice. However there's some straight to the point, easy to understand lyrics with occasional witty lines I like, such as Pat the Bunny's. I'd agree that most lyrics probably suck and are just there so the vocal melody sounds better. Their job is to sound passable enough for the song, not great, it seems. |
