My idea of what really, really, reeeeeally good metal sounds like: Your mileage may vary. The only metal I like that I'd say is pretty testosterone pumped/knuckle dragging would be Nile, and maybe Holy Moses (the singer in that band is a woman though. Oestrogen pumped, then?). I still get what you mean though. One mans poignant is another mans dumb. Probably no way of learning to like metal if the aesthetic is completely off-putting after several attempts at listening to various sub-styles. Last edited by MicShazam; 08-10-2016 at 06:31 PM. |

Like 1blankmind said, they're fun.
I've seen them twice actually, and Twiztid. This was years ago when I was hanging out with some juggalo dudes who got me into them. The first ICP show is still one of my absolute favorite concert experiences. They've got serious energy onstage and getting Faygo sprayed on you for an hour is more fun than shooting fish in a barrel. Bleh. Second-rate power metal with opera vocals thrown in as a gimmick. And now they're second-rate power metal with just a lame singer.

I don't like Heavy Metal, Hair Metal turn me off from that whole scene man, but that's not my unpopular music opinions. It this: Cinderella was the greatest Hair Metal band ever. They had the hottest "chicks" in their videos. Use chorus pedal like it was going out of fashion. They wore the most make-up a man could wear without being called a female. They were right there on the borderline with make-up stuff though, seriously. But they pulled it off and you know they did, because no-one ever lists them as one of the Greatest female bands of all time. They raided the wardrobe of Aerosmith but were much more stylish, they copied Van Halen's hairdo but they had hair that was fuller with more bounce. They didn't have split ends like Steven Tyler. You just can't be a Hair Metal band without paying close attention to your hair. Sorry dude, it doesn't work that way. They did harmonies like Def Leppard, but probably better. It pretty obvious that Axl Rose ripped off his vocal style from Tom Keifer. Cinderella, the most under-rated of the Hair Metal scene.
