I think the Surfer Rosa and Doolittle are awesome, but after that it kinda bores me.

Doolittle is my favorite from them. except for silver every song in that album is brilliant.

Surfer Rosa is one of the greatest rock albums of all time as far as I'm concerned I wouldn't rate The Breeders above that

I remember musicians I used to play with in Cali liked to call Pixies "beach goth"
This i can understand.

Personally i try to get on board with wthvr new direction a band is heading instead of demanding they stay the same. Mind you i highlighted 'try' cause i don't always get on board.

beach goth? that's fitting in a way.

There's a Wavves song called Beach Goths.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

The first two records had a punk feel on many tracks and then it just disappeared :'(.

I don't see what's so great about Funkadelic/Parliament.
Just tried, for the umpteenth time, to listen to Maggot Brain, but got bored pretty quickly.

I've only tried a few times, but Maggot Brain has never really left an impression on me either. Maybe funk is best in shorter doses unless on the proper drugs. The longer **** seems to bore me for the same reasons that a lot of prog bores me.

On the second try, I thought, "Cool album. I guess it's better than most funk."

I remember when I wanted to get into some funk and listened to Funkadelic, and was disappointed with how little funk they actually played. The psychedelic rock part seems to be put to the forefront, and the funk to the sidlines, except on specific songs. I'm not a fan of super long, proggy songs, but there were some songs I digged quite a bit.
