Not until you show your respect for Evan Parker. Incredibly talented and he gets my rocks off. You might think he sucks but you're wrong because people like him.

No offence to Chula but this won't sound friendly
Frown, Chula likes some good stuff but will never be able to discriminate between good music and bad. Evan Parker is so far above his taste it's stupid to even bring it up. |

It's really something that the fans do. I say one of someone's pin up guitar player's bands sucks and they sputter back "but they're so fast and good at their instruments! You've got to respect that." It's a petty way to make them feel good about winning the argument. Nope, the guys from Dragonforce still suck at guitar because you have to make your music interesting to be a good musician in my eyes. And no, the existence of good guitar players doesn't make Dragonforce's guitarists good. Quote:

^I was going to use Dragonforce as an example as well but it seemed obvious. I can respect a musician a lot more if he can play classically and technically, finger tapping etc. Playing fast used to be something I thought was talent until I realized that all it is is just being able to move your hands quicker to play 3 of the same notes. I won't dispute the fact that some musicians who play fast are talented, but if it's all they can do, they fall way further down on my list.
John Petrucci can play fast and can play some of the most amazing technical riffs I've ever heard, and for that, I respect him immensely. |

Exactly. Hiding behind the fact that you're fast when the music induces vomiting is the sign of a ****e musician.
*Frownland does not endorse John Petruccci*
