to me, id rather just listen to individual tracks from Kendrick rather than any of his full albums.

I've listened to 3-4 random tracks from TPAB before making my initial post about Lamar here, to be sure my opinion is still the same.
Huh, interesting. I figured that the jazzier production and the topic matter would make for a much less boring listen.

I might be missing a huge chunk of Lamar goodness since it's usually really hard for me to understand hip-hop lyrics in English. I've heard lots of people say that his are excellent.

His lyricsm is definitely one of, if not the biggest reasons he gets as much praise he does. If you take some of that out of his music, I can see why it would a bit harder to understand what all the hype is about.

Oh then yeah you're for sure missing out on one of the biggest things that Kendrick fans love about him, so I can see why you don't get it.

unpopular opinion: I think Kendrick's lyrical acclaim, at least for TPAB, has a lot to do with him being in the right place at the right time. he didn't reinvent any wheels there, but it's topical and he's pretty self aware (though in kind of a wet blanket sort of way) of that.

and really, thematically GKMC was much more personal, and id say more powerful, anyway. I get the progression between the two albums, but id rather listen to a GKMC 2 than TPAB 2.

I don't like his lyrical content on TPAB at all. But he's a good rapper for sure.

His lyrics on TPAB are some of the greatest rap lyrics ever written

Agreed. Not only the message and meaning behind them, but there's also some seriously catchy hooks on that album.
