Sorry if they are not up your alley.

The Dishwalla guy can sing, that's for sure, but so can Celine Dion and she gets no respect from music nerds for a reason. There's being a good vocalist technically speaking and then there's having character. That's my gripe with those polished, safe, middle of the road types. They have no character, no edge, no personality. I'd take a sort of out-of-tune but idiosyncratic singer like Cadaveria over boring perfection any day of the week. |

Yeah I won't hold it against you to like stuff like this, but I tend to really dislike super polished radio-ready stuff. The most polished alt-rock like thing that I like would probably be something like No Doubt's least popular (but best!) album, Return to Saturn.

I'm relieved.
I get what you're saying. I first saw them in a small club backing up King's X and they all came across as really cool dudes just trying to have fun and get people off on some good melodic tunes. Liked them a lot ever since.

BUT, don't let that stop you or anyone else spoil your fun. Some of us are just cold-, black- & dead-hearted grumps with no appreciation for that kind of fluffy bunny nonsense. |
