It was 1967 though. Those effects were kinda new and tended to be overused for sure.

That doesn't excuse it, I still find it distracts from the song in most cases.

Unfortunately it does sound dated. Like those 60's movies where they do the multiple scenes in seperate frames, looks so dated now. But its Jimi and I'm OK with it.

What, split screen?

That was also done a few times in the 90s, although it was from the Tarantino/Rodriguez indie crowd, who fetishize stuff like that.

Jackie Brown and Boogie Nights come to mind.

I enjoy Nickelback, that's an unpopular opinion right?

I do still love me some Jimi, it's just unfortunate that it doesn't work out as well when I'm using headphones. When I play it on speakers it sounds great and it's hard to really tell that there's panning.

Maybe I'm thinking more the 70's which would makes sense for Jackie Brown and Boogie nights to mimic it. Example:

I don't know how I would rate it as far as the very top of Sabbath's best albums, but I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that Sabotage might be top three material. It might not have as many memorable songs as a few of their other albums, but it just rocks so ****ing hard. Besides, even Sabbath's best albums could be pretty uneven.

I once heard the riff to "Symptom of the Universe" described as the first ever thrash metal riff, and I don't think that's entirely off.

Also, while Dehumanizer (where BS reunited the Dio-era lineup) doesn't quite have any top tier classics, it is solid all the way through, and easily the meanest, most straight-up metal album they ever recorded.

Yeah, I tend to go back to that one more than most the others. Could very well be top 3 material.

"Would?" by Alice In Chains is the greatest song in the history of music.
