Okay... Here it goes.

I believe digital downloads are not the downfall of the music industry, but instead the downfall of the music industry is being caused by increasing control, profit over quality control, payola over the radio and them utilizing their licensing abilities to their fullest potential. (Examples: Vevo has nothing but major artists and if you're really lucky you'd never get to see an indie artist, only a major one. Another Example: It's really difficult to get your song on a major radio station; I'm not talking about those people who think they're going to make it, I'm talking about a well produced, well thought out song that only a devoted person could put into.)

I also believe we have no generational music. In the 50's we've had Rock. In the 60's we've had psychedelic music. In the 70's we've had Funk & R&B, In the 80's we've had punk and synthpop, in the 90's we had rap, grunge, industrial, house. Hell even in the double 00's we've had Alternative.

We have new musical genres now but do they inspire us to question our society, do they provide a release, do they provide us the ability to stand up? Dubstep/EDM is terrible because no effort goes into it and everything sounds mostly the same. Emo/Indie is also terrible because the people who are emoting have no real reason to be emoting or even making music. If you don't like the place you live in, move. If you having problems, face them head on.

Only if you have some right or some prejudice (like something out of your control aka death); only then will you seem emotional and connect with an audience.

^ i agree with some of your points but i don't agree with this statement

"I also believe we have no generational music"

You yourself mentioned kids today have their own generational music you just don't think it has anything to say and look for the most part i agree with you but you know why? it's because im stuck in the 90's

See, this new generational music may mean sh*t to us but not to this new generation, they need music that is their own and speaks to their generation just like we needed ours, even if you don't like said music you at least should acknowledge this new generation DOES have their own generational music just like we had ours.

That speaks volumes, I never thought of it that way. I was so used to being derided that I didn't think that every generation needed their own music; guess the generation that exists now will think of the next era as having no generational music.

Therefore, I acknowledge that the new generation has dubstep, EDM and Emo/Indie. I don't know what would happen if we took it away from them and I don't want to find out.

Yup, that's how it goes.

Most of us get stuck to a certain decade in music, usually the one that defines our generation and like i said, mine was the 90's and the whole grunge movement and i remember old rockers from the 80's hating it.

i remember them saying it was depressive and just bummed ppl out which is kinda true.

Nah, it was the lack of the wanking guitar solos. Plus the silly dude grunge "uniform".

Looked great on the ladies though.

Shall I dig through the member picture gallery for a pic of you head-to-toe in denim and a mullet?

I tried, but there are eight pages of his ****ing posts in that thread, and the links to a lot of them are broken.

If you applied yourself a little more, you'd be able to do these things.
