I like that song that GnR didn't do, the rest of their material kind of sucks imo.

I have to agree. Call Me Maybe is extremely catchy. That and Friday are two songs that may be terrible, but are catchy as ****. Plus, the silly remakes of those songs are fantastic: The Black Album is fantastic, but that's only because I think The Unforgiven is one of the best Metallica songs ever recorded. The rest of the tracks are pretty good, but that one is one i'll always go back to. I agree with your Doors / Floyd comment. Not saying I don't enjoy The Beatles, but I think The Doors and Pink Floyd had a lot more going for them. The Doors not as much as Pink Floyd, only because I haven't really been hugely into The Doors. I like them, but I wouldn't consider myself a humongous fan. I can't agree with your Iron Maiden comment. They're great, and their albums have been consistent throughout their career. And that does include A Matter of Life and Death, which for some reason doesn't get as highly rated as their other albums. It's a great album, and if you read how they recorded the album, it just makes it even better. But the best heavy metal band? Nah. They're up there though, don't get me wrong. I don't know about RHCP being better than Nirvana, only because Bleach is one of my all time favorite grunge albums, but I can say that I do agree with your Alice in Chains comment. They're most recent album was fantastic and really shows that even though the personnel has changed, they've still got the talent to back them up and to make a great album. I'm the same with Queen as I am with The Doors. Not a humongous fan, but I can see talent when I...er see it. Freddie Mercury was a fantastic vocalist and really went out of the box for that time. There are a lot of great vocalist out there nowadays, but he did make a name for himself and still remains to be one of the better vocalists. Hoping he's resting well in his permanent slumber. I can't agree with you on Slipknot, only because I find them to be utter ****. Yes, this is coming from a guy who will actively defend Linkin Park. It happened in this thread, check for yourself. I just don't see what's so great about Slipknot. If I wanted to listen to a band that is also trying to make fun of themselves, I'd listen to Lordi or GWAR. I've never gotten hugely into David Bowie. Or Elvis for that matter, so I can't say much about that. However, I have been wanting to get into those two artists, but for now, I'll disagree. |

I don't necessarily hate them. I've always found that they were a band that if you didn't really grow up listening to them (due to parents listening to them), they would just turn out to be decent at best. They are talented, but I could never heavily get into them.
