Never actually heard her music (or seen her now that I think of it, although I heard she dresses weirdly).
Not a fan of pop though, so I don't think I'll bother to.

He's pretty great but greatest? Not in the slightest, half of his material is hokey phoned in crap.

With Maurice Ravel, Bela Bartok, Erik Satie, Igor Stravinsky, Aaron Copland, Hietor Villa-Lobos, Burl Ives etc etc ... I think not.

Zappa may be the most versatile of the 20th century though. He really could excel at almost anything.

I hear a lot of people say that... but to be honest I'm kind of unsure what hokey means. I mean, I know the definition and all...
An example? I'm a Zappa fan, Uncle Meat is my favorite.

If it only weren't for all those annoying skits and intros and spliced in dialogues...
Not to say I don't love Zappa, though.

You Are What You Is and Thing-Fish are pretty annoying.

Off topic to this Zappa discussion...

I read that the singer/bassist of Slayer claim that any band that opens for them will look bad because of how good Slayer is, or some pretentious crap like that. And what I thought when I read what he said, was that he gives his band far too much credit. Slayer is not that great in my opinion, and the fact that the singer thinks no band that opens for them can put on a show as good as theirs just makes me like Slayer even less. F*ck you Tom.
