Being a nirvana fan i have something of a useless point to throw in here. You aint helped our case with these lyrics. The thing about "inspired a generation of drug users" had me pmsl. Have a sense of humour about it. Im sorry but I love nirvana and i have to agree, cobain wasnt an astounding musician, he had a knack of writing catchy, simple riffs, and even dave grohl was quoted as saying he saw kurt write lyrics in ten minutes on a plane and couldnt be convinced the lyrics were probing and meaningful. I agree they did change music though. For a while anyway. Now the darkness and bands like that are trying to bring back a genre of music that should sit gathering mothballs with the spandex. To recap, nirvana - great music but not technically genius or particularly thought provoking. What was the original question again? (must be those drugs) |

i'm not saying that they were the most talented artsist, nor do I claim that cobain wasn't a drug addict, otherwise I'd be an idiot. I accept that everyone has different tastes in music, and personally I love nirvana's lyrics, and I do think they were talented musically, but by no means were they close to the best. They were incredibly influencial, but unlike others who have stated their opinions here, I believe that their influence had a positive effect on music. Back to the "inpsiring a generation of druggies" (or something to that effect) line, how can you possibly pin drug use on the influence of one rock band? Would you accuse hendrix of the same? how about the beatles? because heavy drug use in the public's eye sure as hell didn't start with nirvana.
