Default Bands turning into U2

So apparently The Killers are now turning the way of U2... along with Razorlight... stadium rock really is the big thing now ain't it?

The Killers are even bragging about U2's influence on them. What is the world coming to?!

In most cases these bands don't really have a choice, they sell so many records its natural that they're going to have to play larger venues and write songs that are going to fill those larger venues.

Still, no excuse for Razorlight's 'America'. Horrible song.

Bands of the Rolling Stones calibre, really don't have much choice.
It would be hard to expect the likes of the Stones or any other massive band to play any other kind of venue.
Having said that, they usually play a small gig in front of a limited number of people during a tour. I know which venue I'd prefer to see them at.
All to often, the bigger a band gets, the more they forget about the people who helped get them there.
As for the Killers bragging about U2's influence, well that confirms my feelings toward this band. Not a fan.

It would still be good if the didn't change the formula completely... I didn't particularly like The Killers before, I thought they were bland... but the new stuff I've heard sounds much better.

As for Razorlight, they could have still afforded to keep some of the old formula. Their new album is okay, but I haven't heard so many stadium fillers in one album. And not one with the emotion of 'Up All Night'.

Gee, U2 influence is all it takes not to like a band isn't it?

Aren't you all Radiohead fans?

I never said I disliked the bands... I prefer The Killers now to how they used to be.

Razorlight have took a turn for the worst though.

And what's Radiohead got to do with anything?

I don't see how The Killers wouldn't be influenced by U2 seeing as they are influenced by every single other 80s pop rock band.

That is horrible, copying the Coldplay sound. I can still just about appreciate the guitar lines and the general songwriting, but their sound is pretty much based on having no interesting sound.

And although U2 suck, that's mainly because of Bono's vocals and pretty much everything about the guy (like he wanted to be Bob Geldof, but was unfortunately born retarded)
