Laurie Anderson
Not sure where I should put this, kinda 80's electronica really...
Anyway, I came across Big Science recently, and love it. Does Anyone a) Know any of her work b)Have any opinions of her or c) know what any of her other stuff is like?

She had a huge box set in the late eighties- five albums of a live performance, Ithink. It's pretty neat if you like performance-art kinda stuff. I like it.
She is currently married to Lou Reed.

I saw her featured in a documentary a few months back.
Big Science was never an album as such , it was a collection of peices from her performace art that was something like 7 hours long altogether. She said she had a lot of sh*t to deal with at the time. She said none of the musicians around at the time took her seriously and most of the people she did performace art with accused her of selling out.

Rock critics always go ecstatic over the album with O Superman on (good song), but I find the album patchy. I suppose they see it as the most experimental and so best, but of course those two things don't always go together.
