What they should be playing on MTV and Vh1?
I really Dont like MTV and Vh1 simply because they dont play music and when they do they only play rap and pop. I would like to see more air time given to hard Rock and Metal, but I notice thay dont play every type of music out there at all. So what I am asking is are you unhappy with what they play and what do you think should be given more air time on the music stations

Yeah, that's what MTV2, Kerrang and Scuzz (*shudder*) play. Yes, I think they should be given more time on radio stations, but they do in some countries. I was in Sweden and I was listening to the radio, which played metal for the entire time I was listening to it.

I don`t care what they play i`d just like to see something other than dire music videos.
I`d like to see them do something like a showcase program where they invite bands of any genre that are doing the rounds in clubs that maybe have a couple of singles or one album out and bring them into a studio in front of an audience to play a few songs to give them wider exposure. They could also bring in a couple of name bands too to give it more veiwers. This sort of program has always done well in the UK with shows like The Old Grey Whistle Test , The Tube , The White Room & Later With Jools Holland , yet i`ve never really seen anything like it on MTV. Which is a shame given it`s supposed to be a music station.

i personally wouldn't want any of the music I like to be played on the much tv stations here.. Cause then every one will start listening to it.. it will become mainstrem and over played, it would ruin one of the things I enjoy about the music I listen to..
the music I listen to is over played and played offten I would guess over in the US on mtv and ****.. but most of what I like doesn't get air play here. |

The only reason songs are overplayed is because it`s cheaper to play 15-20 music videos on constant rotation.
If you had a station that filmed live shows , made documentaries , showcased new bands , had music news bulletins every few hours and maybe a veiwers choice show and perhaps only showed music videos on rotation from say 2am - 9am then there would be so much different stuff going on you wouldn`t get sick of it.

I'd like to see somr variety in the music videos they play.
A few programs dedicated to helping promote bands local to any area. And maybe a program dedicated to airing videos from a particular time period by musicians that were popular during that particular time period.

Yeah but not on TV
http://arts.guardian.co.uk/news/stor...838810,00.html Shame , I was too young to watch it when it was on originally , I watched all the 20th anniversary stuff a few years back.

With a bit of luck, if it's popular enough, lets hope it makes a comeback on TV.
TV is screaming out for a regular, quality music programme. Has been for years (with the exception of 'Later With Jools Holland'. |
