Album related market research!!
Hey everyone, just wondering if you could help us out a bit!
We (Sound Devastation Records) are considering, online distribution. As we are both heavily against the whole system, we dont really want to do it out of choice... but we'd like to guage the advantage of it in the scenes we are targeting. We'd also like to know the best way of letting people preview before they buy. so chose your preference (imagine online and CD prices are the same - say £6), and tell us why! |
cheers whoever fixed the poll!

Option 1.
It's basically what I do anyway. Getting stuff off the net is great, but I like to own the cd. Shouldn't this be in 'Promotion'. ;) |
Half the times I buy albums I downloaded a while ago and all the other time it's just a blind I've heard these guys are good.

I jsut illegally download, and if I like it, ill buy something different from the band.
|
3) Listen to one or two free downloads, buy as CD
The first part to check it out, and be able to let others check it out. And not the entire album, because that takes the surprise out of the album, making it less atractive to buy... |
Yeah, me too^
Plus, having the CD is good, cause there's a certain novelty to it, and you get the album sleeve and stuff. |

3, for one, I hate listening to a whole album off a website. Also if I have two downloaded tracks I can typically get into the band more that way, which leads to me buying the album. |
I'll download it for free. If I like it I'll buy it maybe. Usually I don't buy cd's anyway unless it's from the bands at a show.
