Cheers mate, that's an album I will be buying.

The lead singer seems to be an instantly iconic figure, with his chubbiness and overall doesn't fit in look. And yeah, Milburn are good. I wouldn't call them anything special but they do seem to fit the Brit Pop mould and should become really big soon.

And even with all their stick, the Razorlight album is really good. I would suggest you all listen.

Also, Guillemots! They're good, check em out.

The Smiths do count, yes. I would also listen to Suede aswell... they were likened to The Smiths in their heyday for their lyrics, although some people dislike the lead singers voice. I think it's great though.

The Smiths are like the pre-curser to Brit-Pop, but I don't actually consider them brit pop.

I think people see them as too good to be classified as Brit-Pop.

I don't understand how the Smiths are britpop.

'Definitely Maybe' and 'The Bends' are my favourite britpop albums, apart from that its all about the singles with britpop bands (non cheesy singles.)

This thread has caused 'County House' to ring around in my head, which i'm not thankful for.

It depends on your definition of what Britpop is.

If you`re defining it as a late 80s early 90s groups of bands then no they are not.

If you`re defining it as bands influenced by classic British pop of the 60s & 70s then yes they are.

However I do find it sad that there has been one band overlooked & thats Orange Juice.Jangly guitar pop with a 'crooner' style vocal that pre-date even the Smiths by a few years. I would be very surprised if Morrissey wasn`t even a little bit influenced by Edwin Collins.

I'm slightleh confused, what is brit-pop? Is it a specific era or just british pop? 'Cause if its the latter wouldn't that make James Blunt brit-pop?
