Music in the World Today

I was talking to a friend of mine earlier and topic came up and I guess I just wanted to hear some of your opinions on the subject.

The subject was about how a lot of today's music inspires people to go off and either do harm to themselves or harm to others.

I personally think that music (or any other form of media) shouldn't be the blame when a kid goes and shoots some friends or kills himself. The person most likely would've done it anyway no matter what kinda music he listened to.

What about his parents for not teaching him the dangers of guns.
What about the person that gave him the gun & the ammunition.
If he stole it , then again the parents are to blame for not teaching him that it`s wrong.
If he gets a gun & blows his friends head off he obviously has has mental problems before he`s even picked up any album.
If he`s buying that sort of music/movies then his parents should be aware of what he`s buying and to make a point of telling him it`s just an image & shouldn`t be taken seriously.

People should take their own responsability. My mother is a horror movie fan. I grew up with almost every horror movie made in the house on video somewhere , yet I didn`t turn into some psychopathic killer.

People can think for themselves and as a person you should have enough sense to look at things objectively. If you can't then it's likely that something else would've influenced you to do the same thing.

This is retarded Raine...Media should have nothing to do with how someone is gunna react to things..maybe it rubs off on your a little bit for like a half hour...like after i watch GANXSTA movies..i seem to talk like im black for about 10 minutes...but im not gunna go out and kill a guy..or myself because the movie or song says to.

Today's music makes me want to kill people

but mostly it is just the bands making it that I want to kill

That's funny

At any rate, I don't believe media or music can drive someone to killing another person, killing themselves, or doing anything else just as heinous.
i do however believe that the media plays some role in what shapes the mind of a person (including but not limited to killers, rapists and the children of columbine).
It's not music that kill people, it's the kid with the gun

You can't really say it's the parent fault either, after all they could teach there kids that it's wrong to kill and steal and all, but in the end the kid could still kill and steal for the fun of it. But i do agree that any type of media shouldn't be blamed, that's just stupid...
