^I didn't propose an argument, so you can get from it what you like. I was, as IndiElectronica suggested, putting a new topic up in the same thread. As the thread started off with a rant about what Clarence hated, it seemed suitable to give a rant about what I hated. I doesn't really require defending, as its a personal gripe.
Ok, I'll start with a more important gripe (to me). I hate when people, musicians at least, complain about the lack of a decent music scene where they live. In Birmingham, they complain about the lack of good bands, the lack of people coming to gigs, the lack of dancing at shows (my gripe earlier), the lack of most things... mostly everything except the lack of venues, as there are clearly quite a few of those around. In general, I hate when people complain that other people aren't getting off their asses and organising something for the complainants entertainment. If there's no music scene, create one yourself! If nobody's dancing, then start dancing yourself! If there are no good gigs happening, organise one yourself! So that's my rant, have of it what you will. |

I didn't say you started an argument, i mean the people above. Whatever, doesn't matter.
You live in Birmingham? I totally agree with what you said, well, this part: ''If there's no music scene, create one yourself! If nobody's dancing, then start dancing yourself! If there are no good gigs happening, organise one yourself!'' What's the local band scene like there? People are complaining our one down in Bedford (near london/cambridge) Is shit, but they don't make any effort to make it better, they claim to love music and want to be promoters and stuff, and do jack. Next year, hopefully i might put a few gigs on or something, i know a tonne of local bands, either local ones from where i live, or touring ones from other towns. |
