Detroit, by far. L.A. and New york porduse more groups, but Detroit has the talent, not just in music either.

And if the only reason you put Detroit in this poll is because It's called Motown, you really need a reality check

Umm garage rock , MC5 , Stooges , Buffalo Springfield , and latterly Soledad Brothers White Stripes and whole load of others.

I'm not discrediting Chicago for not producing some great bands.
I just don't think the only reason he should have for putting them in the poll is because of Motown Records.

And Motown is definitely Detroit.

Neither oft hose places are sattes. they are cities.
And I didn't chose Detroit in the first place because I think New York has produced better stuff than Detroit.
The fact is LedZepplin guy associated Detroit with motown and i think that was kidna narrowminded assuming that because a palce is known for a record label it had to release a lot of good artists.

And is till won my case anyhow becuase I'mg oing assume you're right and if I do that, then Detroit shouldn't be assocaited with Motown at all.

i dont mean the citys in particular, the areas around them, detoit has ,Ted Nugent for instance, he is one of the greatest guitar players of all time, Kid Rock, Eminem, those are only a handful of good musicans to come out of the detroit area

eminem isn't as great as he used to be.

and so I think it's a good thing I went with new york in spite of the mini riot I started in this thread.

NY is better than both those cities as far as bands that have come from them IMO.

And you posted here how many times before answering the question.

Detroit had more quality during the 50s and 60s and 70s, come the 80s LA had the metal scene, and i am not sure about New York
