Pointlessly long songs?

I was just listening to The Diamond Sea by Sonic Youth and the song is like 3 minutes long but then it goes on for about 17 minutes more with just 'noise'. I say if bands want to make long songs there has to be a point to them being long like The Trilogy last track on Daydream Nation.

Any other examples of bands just going several minutes too far?

Theres a point to noise. Its just a different style of music... and no music is pointless.

Any song you have to go through silence to find the hidden track. What a bitch that is.

Anything by The Darkness. They should all last 0 seconds. Anything above that is way to much Darkness to listen to.

Devil Sold His Soul: Like it's your last. Brilliant song. But it basically ends after 6 minutes, then had a 2 minute fade out...Pointless...
