Last album you bought, downloaded or listened to

This is a thread that won't get old with time! What's the latest cd you have bought, and what do you think of it?

banonbush 03-22-2004 08:45 AM

I just bought Propaghandi's Today's empires, Tomorrow's ashes. It is very good, and very punk rock! hehe Anyway, yeah, it's very good and I think everyone who likes punk should pick up a copy. Very political.

DJ_Jester 03-22-2004 09:13 AM

I just bought Dope: Life (Thanks for the recommendation, Jibs) I think it's really good. It's really high energy and gets you pretty pumped. It's got a very angry look at the normal alternative band topics like breaking up and the man keeping you down but it rocks. I kinda find myself banging on the steering wheel while listening to it. Oh yeah, if you do buy the cd... I don't recommend driving during morning rush hour with it in. Even though the CD is KICK ASS, it's kind of a multiplier for road rage. :finger:

Rockafella Skank 03-22-2004 01:01 PM

I can't even think of the last one I bought. I'll let you know when I pick something up (probably this week). :thumb:

Eltiraaz 03-22-2004 05:13 PM

Last CD I bought was a compilation, Ministry of Sound Canada, lots of good trance and house artists on that, my favorite song on it would have to be "The Anthem" by Hatiras, or "Genedefekt" by Green Velvet.

Last Album I bought was Room on Fire, by the Strokes. Excellent cd, I find with a style as defined as the strokes you either love em or hate em, I love em :D, The Song "Reptilia" was a personal fav, as well as "You Talk Way Too Much".. i just think they are one of the coolest bands out there.

Beor Uaine 03-23-2004 02:49 PM

Closer Than Kin. They're not the greatest band, but they have some good riffs.
I got their cd for $4.99 at Newbury Comics. Less Than Zero is my favorite song of that album. It's called 7 Songs That You'll never Hear Again. I might get their other album soon it's on $7.99. They are punk/hardcore. That's how I would catergorize them.

banonbush 03-29-2004 04:42 PM

Eltiraaz 03-30-2004 04:29 PM

I have that CD, its excellent... although I felt like SOTY is missing something in their music... their an awesome band though.. nice purchase

northern_angel455 05-31-2004 04:04 PM

Just bought One Hot Minute by the Chilis after loving their more mainstream albums. I like it more, the more I listen to it but I'm not convinced about the guitars. Thank god John Frusciante came back before I discovered them. Like the lyrics, vocals and several songs though.

Also bought Room on Fire by the Strokes and it sounds pretty good on my first couple of listens. A little louder and a little more raw than other stuff I've been listening to but can't say too much more as I'm too busy listening to the other one!

ally 05-31-2004 04:24 PM

catalyst-NFG still deciding.

OpethFlames 06-01-2004 07:48 AM

I just picked up:
Amaran ~ "Pristine in Bondage" 8.5/10
Flaw ~ "Endangered Species" 8/10

God Forbid's latest album I thought was kick ass. Gone Forever is a great album.

Well, the last few CDs I've gotten, I haven't bought. They were burnt for me......so I'll name those.

Splinter by The Offspring- It's an awesome CD.

Americana by The Offspring- It too is an awesome CD.......but Pay The Man is a bit long.

Smash by The Offspring- It's a great CD.

But I think the last CD I bought was:

Kerplunk by Green Day- I love this CD!.....I hope that's a good enough explanation....lol
:band:

Thrice 06-10-2004 05:51 PM

I got the new senses fail cd today its good, not like the old one though

Bartender 06-14-2004 10:23 AM

Last CDs I bought were;

Theory in Practice - Colonising the Sun - excellent. Everything I'd hoped for.

Kalmah - Swamplord - good but slightly disappointing.

Immolation - Here In After - excellent again, though given the choice I would have gotten Dawn of Possession instead..

Grand Belial's Key - Mocking the Philanthropist - good, but I was expecting more after hearing so many positive comparisons with Arghoslent. They don't sound anything like Arghoslent, and Arghoslent blow them out of the water.

punks-in-my-blood 06-17-2004 11:28 AM

the story of the clash volume 1, everyone loves the clash

the last one 06-18-2004 02:40 AM

I haven't bought any for ages... last i bought was lost prophets and i got a tape of the offspring yesterday, but has anyone noticed how annoying tapes are? You can't skip tracks, you cant't leave them on repeat, you have to turn them over all the time. CDs are so much better.

Vinyl > CDs > tapes.

But CDs win out because they're more practical.

Last buy;
Kreator - Coma Of Souls

I recently have recieved the new Circle Takes the Square cd and The Now. Both Cds are nothing short of amazing and if anyone likes good music they should check them out.

riseagainstrocks 06-18-2004 01:12 PM

I was all over the new Between The Buried And Me - The Silent Circus. I defy anyone to find a band that is more HxC. Christ their breakdowns are insane

AmyLeeFan 08-24-2004 09:22 PM

The last CD I bought was the self titled one from Three Days Grace, it sucked so bad my mother used it for a vacum cleaner.

I got As the Roots Undo recently as well. Incredibly good.

franscar 08-25-2004 08:06 PM

The last cd I bought was an Iron & Wine cd. Incredibly mellow, acoustic and very melodic. Melancholy lyrics too. Love it.

Picked up Unearth - The Oncoming Storm yesterday and its not too bad. Only complaint is that the songs are way too structured. they need to be more sporadic, but if you like metal or hardcore you should check it out
