![]() ![]() Cowboy Junkies—The Trinity Session (1988) This is one of my all-time favorite albums, but I haven't listened to it in a long time. Listening to it late at night tonight reminds me of why I've always loved it. |

![]() ![]() Minako Yoshida - Twilight Zone What if Laura Nyro was more melancholy and also Japanese? This album answers that question and the result is really damn good, Tatsuro Yamashita's production is slick and immaculate but never overbearing, there's some nice jazzy instrumentation here and there but you never forget this is Minako's record, her beautiful voice always stands out, her style reminds me a lot of Laura but without Laura's more abrasive tendencies. Perfect album for when you're a sad weeb on a rainy night.

![]() ![]() DELANEY & BONNIE - ON TOUR WITH ERIC CLAPTON (1970) Delaney & Bonnie had some tight touring bands, featuring the likes of Duane & Greg Allman, Leon Russel, George Harrison, Steve Howe and Rita Coolidge. This line-up, featuring Eric Clapton, mostly went on to work on All Things Must Pass but first made this slice of southern-rock/gospel/country/boogie recorded live in 1970. Plenty of heart, plenty of soul, some pitch-perfect harmonies. I can't always get on board with Clapton but this is immense, and Clapton plays a supporting role. |
