I guess I should clarify, many people liked "No Rain" but wrote them off as a one-hit wonder after that. I liked the song but never enough to check out the album. The single for "Galaxie" off of Soup is what really caught my attention...but it didn't get very popular and the general public forgot about them.

I deleted that off mine only last week. Major sort out time. Kinda bored me apart from a couple of tracks.

I consider everything Cream did to be some of the coolest and gnarliest hard rock ever made. They might be my favorite band in terms of how the musicians played together.
Speaking of Cream, Blind Faith is an essential band as well. Clapton and Baker were great in that band. This is one of the coolest performances ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUW1SGF7bR8

Another nostalgia trip..
I was surprised to find that I still know every note and lyric by heart even though I haven't even heard it in probably 15 years and I considered it a nostalgic listen even in 1995. I guess teen angst goes a long way.. Also, I found the production kind of refreshing and still-relevant. Some of these beats sound a lot like some of the electronic music I like that's coming out today.

I deleted that too They just don't hit that raw vibe that I love from the mid 60's . Give me John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Jeff Beck's 'Beck-Ola' or the Yardbirds anyday. Tales Of Brave Ulysses is a storming track by Cream though.

Man I had that as a kid way back too. Lost it a long time ago, I'm pretty sure. I kinda wanna play it again after seeing the cover...Think I'll DL it tonight. ><
I Got a used copy of this today: Guttermouth - The Album Formerly Known as Full Length LP Realized the other night how much I've loved their Musical Monkey album forever, but have absolutely nothing else from them. Trying to work my way out through their stuff now. This album was released in '96, the year before Musical Monkey, so I'm hoping it's very similar honestly. |
