My Christmas present from me, to me. I already had King Crimson - Red but I just had to get this version... it has 3 bonus live tracks and some extra video content. Split Enz - Mental Notes was a bargain at $7 new... it's their prog debut. Kind of surprised that I only just bought Bowie - Low. The Akerfeldt/Opeth endorsement sticker on the PT album is amusing.

Apparently they started out an R&B group, and there is definitely a groove to the music that is absent from straight punk, it also matches the later hardcore stuff for speed, except the songs are comparatively long with loads of changes. They're like MC5 without the trimmings and more politics. Like another black punk band from this era, Pure Hell, the quality of the tunes and standard of musicianship prompts you to wonder if their race got in the way of a deal - these bands could have gone on to be as big as Bad Brains with the punk crowd

ed.. how motor city is this?:
this cd is fantastic, one of my favorites in the genre

A new friend and I exchanged digital libraries...but we're only importing things into our active libraries upon recommendation (or if something particular sounds interesting), so we don't get overwhelmed. I don't want to just have a ton of stuff I know nothing about in my library. So today I've imported the following so far, and I'll take them on my trip tomorrow. I've heard of all these artists before, just never listened to them.

Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People
Deerhunter - Microcastle
Edan - Beauty and the Beat
Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire de Melody Nelson
Madvillain - Madvillainry
Mclusky - Mclusky Do Dallas

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I got that Mclusky album about a month ago and it was bloody fantastic, I really need to look up more stuff from them.

I can't wait to get up to Vancouver and plug my external hard drive into my buddy's computer and raid his music folder... I'm almost salivating...

The Bloodsugars - I Can't Go On, I'll Go On

Full length debut album that I'm hoping is better than their EP.
