^ Floodland is also a Sisters of Mercy album worth checking out, some unusual post-punk there.

They're a band I've been meaning to check out for a long time. I know some of their songs and have heard them a bunch, I just don't know them by name and have never heard a full album. So yeah most likely after I digest this one I'll get Floodland.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Yeah, that sounds like a great show. >< I really like the new DTP album, its not bad at all. How'd you like Alaska?

For me, I recently picked up some used jazzy type cd's:

^Over the past year or so I've really been getting into Getz more and more...just really enjoy his stuff alot. This CD is a live recording too, which suits me just fine...love live jazz albums.

Good fun big-band sound. Covers Peggy Lee's first 4 months with Benny Goodman, which was also where she got her start as a lead singer. The booklet for this is actually pretty cool as well, devoting 2 or 3 paragraphs to every song explaining the settings and details behind each, as well as studio drama and other misc. details.

Not a bad bunch of songs, but man I wish the sound quality on this was a bit better. Oh well...

Sturmpercht - Geister Im Waldgebirg (2006)

Eerie yet wonderfully accomplished northern European folk about elves and trolls and things that go bump in the night. Thanks TL!

Fat Freddy's Drop - Based On A True Story (2005)

Very chill mesh of reggae, soul and dub, though not sure how popular they are 'round these parts. In any case, I'm really happy with this so far!

IZZ - My River Flows (2005)

Yet another modern prog. album I've run across that confuses me in all the right ways. Although their quieter moments remind me of the Beatles at their most accessible, the playing is generally fun/knotty and more akin to a jazz band or a more metallic Gentle Giant than anything the Fab Four ever did. Multiple vocalists, both male and female, are a nice touch here also.

Venetian Snares - Doll Doll Doll

I deleted this at some point to make room. Maybe I didn't like it that much, dunno. We'll see.
