I've always had an affection for post-metal, starting since I heard Neurosis back when I was like 16. There's just something about the attitude more about creating an atmosphere rather than showing off how fast you can play that went over well with me. Admittedly I tend to lean more towards the post-black metal that's been coming out recently, stuff like Peccatum, Solefald, Arcturus, etc. that I've been ignoring some of the American stuff. Besides Neurosis the only other post-metal band that I've been listening to for awhile has been Daturah and Rosetta, however finding bands like Pelican and Russian Circles has proven to me that there's a lot more to American metal than what meets the eye. |
