Heh.

Yeah that's my favourite Neurosis album too, it really takes everything they've done before and brings it to the next level.

Better late then never eh?

Definitely. I really need to get some more Neurosis, the only other album I have by them is A Sun That Never Sets, which I also like a lot.

I hate to ask all this but... Please The one I'm most interested in is Sunday Seance, if that's too much.

Now, what the ****...

Sun Araw - In Orbit c30

The pictures big, only one I could find. Went through some deep self reflection of my music listening habits to discover I've been gravitating towards listening to almost exclusively new, relatively popular 2009 indie music. I've been becoming the very thing I hate: an indie snob. I've been listening to music that is only somewhat decent in an attempt to get into the indie rock/ I guess you could even say (dare I say it) p4k scene. I have a favorites bar loaded up with some blogs that I've been meaning to work my way through for ages, and this is my first choice. Damn, I've been missing out. I need to dl a lot of music, after I delete all the **** in my library I don't like all that much there's no way I'll be able to fill a 160 GB iPod, and as I have only 2 months till the navy, I need a bunch of new stuff to take with me. Hopefully I can cure myself in time... This is a good first step I think, some tropical tinged psychedelic drone that will cause a flashback within the first 5 minutes. Not could, will.

i can't believe i forgot about this album. i had a copy back in college, but it must have drifted away, because i have not thought about it in years.

their stuff is proving a bit tricky to track down, especially some of their older LPs and EPs. but i'm making some good progress...

I would highly recommend their 2007 release Given to the Rising. It's a little bit more progressive metal than the avant-garde of their earlier stuff of this decade, but it's still a pretty good album. I would also recommend checking out Steve Von Till and Scott Kelly's solo work, very big departure from Neurosis but just as awesome.

Anyhow here's what I plundered today:

Deathspell Omega - Mass Grave Aesthetics

One of my all time favourite Black Metal bands. Their approach is far more metaphysical than other black metal bands which helps create a far more sophisticated style sound. Now you're never going to get a group of aristocrats with monocles sipping brandy while listening to this album, but it does go beyond the typical "God sucks/ praise Satan" theme that most black metal follows.

Ulver - Shadows of the Sun

Really hard to dislike this group. They've really built up on each release and changing their overall approach to a more electronic based sound with their 2000 release Perdition City.

^ Some quality stuff there Pete! = )

Golden Earring - Moontan (1973)

Boogie-heavy prog. rock for the ages, alight with a powerful kind of weirdness and blessed with the vibe of a classic that never saw the light of morning.

Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion (1985)

Interesting thrashy classic with touches of something more; wish I had picked it up earlier, because this kicks major ass.

Mike Oldfield - Amarok [Remastered] (1990)

Probably the best 60-minute piece of music I've ever heard; the acoustic guitar work in particular is positively righteous stuff.

You need Times of Grace. It's slowed down and Steve Albini-produced (yes, I'm a fanboy). My favorite Neurosis.
