I think calling Michael Giacchino brilliant is an understatement.

Haven't played it yet actually. But it's nice to hear you feel it's on par with Music By Cavelight because I also prefer it to Downtown Science. I thought Uncle Tony's Coloring Book was good but too upbeat, it didn't feel as deep as the other two.

I'll second Wax Tailor (his first two...latest one has a lot of vocals), Blue Sky Black Death, DJ Signify. I've heard Meaty Ogre and thought he was ok. Also, Sixtoo as mentioned in the trip-hop thread, Odd Nosdam (I love No More Wig for Ohio), Prefuse 73, etc.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

That was one of her albums I heard first. Definitely interesting. Some of it reminds me of The Jackson 5.
They have some tracks on their MySpace page...they don't have much of an website. You can preview their songs on iTunes.

Word. Lost is the only show where I unintentionally notice the music that's happening in the background. Great stuff.

I bought these five yesterday (strange B band theme here):

Behemoth—The Apostasy. This one's just okay, a bit too paint-by-numbers for my tastes but it gets a little more interesting in its second half.

Behold... the Arctopus—Skullgrid. I'm undecided on this one. It seems kind of interesting but at the same time it seems just kind of technical for technical's sake.

Boris—Smile. Seems pretty good so far, nice and messy sounding which I like. I haven't listened to it all the way through yet though.

Continued in next post...

High on Fire—Death is the Communion. Holy christ is this a good album! Not at all what I was expecting from the guy from Sleep but really, really good.

Neurosis—Through Silver in Blood. All I want to know is why on earth did it take me 13 years to get this album, it's fucking fantastic!

That's a weird coincidence. What do you think of it (the album, not the coincidence)?

I owned it before. I was actually just replacing it, but I absolutely love it. You should check out the new Baroness if you haven't already. Just give me a nod.
