Some interesting cabaret music with a splash of Gothic to make it brooding. They have a tuba player though, I mean what band do you listen to that has a tuba player?

That could be an interesing thread: good music with tuba...

here's another one to file away if you get on well with them. The best Cardiacs stuff is actually difficult to come by, if anybody has a copy of 'the Seaside' hit me up... or forever hold your peace...

definitely an acquired taste, cartoon pop/punk/prog, they are a bit like Split Enz

Circus Contraption - Grand American Traveling Dime Museum

More music should be like this. It's theatrical, fun, grand, and all over the place, yet it has a very dark twist to each of the songs. Vaudevillian music at it's finest.

The Decemberists - The Crane Wife

I wasn't blown away, but a few of the songs were pretty good. Yankee Bayonet is a highlight.

The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots

I dig the wacky electronic stuff, but many of these melodies sound far too conventional. Part 1 of the title song is a case in point. I'm only through the first half of the album, though.

Tracy Chapman's entire discography :o:

I like it a lot.
