As for that death metal cover album...you absolutely have to let me know how that works out. :D Sounds like it's going to be either extremely fun or an absolute train wreck. |

As for myself, I've just downloaded the latest Jarvis ****er album, Further Complications. Although never as good as Pulp I enjoyed his first album, but this one kind of slipped under the radar. I'll give it a listen as soon as it's on my iPod. |

(1970) They have been my favourite band for a few days now, this comes in the middle of a run of 3 or 4 classic albums. The blues/hard rock feeling of their music overshadows the progressive elements, but they are definitely there, just with more emphasis on hair-raising riffage than castles in the sky. 'Split' has more jamming in it than the others, and along with Sabbath this is surely one of the definitive early stoner rock albums. Just very, very f*cking good. Also Cherry Red Records is named after the song 'cherry red', good label edit: features yet another song covered by the Fall somewhere or other, 'Junkman'. I dont think you could have called yourself a punk in 1976 without having heard Groundhogs, they are like the alternative for people sick of Zeppelin's posturing |
