A Grand Don't Come for Free - The Streets
I already listened to it multiple times off Skinner's MySpace, so I knew what to expect. There are only a few times where I don't listen to a whole album before I buy it. As for the specific comments in regards to the album, I like it a lot. I'm not really too much of a fan when it comes to UK house/Garage Rap, but I found the lyrics of the album and their delivery to be the key strengths. His lyrics are both relatable and funny. He isn't trying to make himself seem like a deserving star, but rather an ordinary (British) schmoe with ordinary problems and bumbles. Also, I'm always a bit of a sucker for well-executed concept albums. If interested in the album, again, I strongly urge to read the lyrics along with the songs to help open up their greatness. Not to mention, I got it for about $6 off Amazon, new. |

He has an EP with his group "Illegitimate Children" (Grieves, Type, and Murder Dice) and it's pretty good, too. The song off the Illegitimate Children EP called "My Girlfriend Beats Me" is pretty funny.
