these are downloads from over the last four days
A 1997 compilation of Converge's early stuff from 1994 onwards. I am more partial to the honed brutality of their breakfroo 'Jane Doe', but this sits comfortably between that and the old school thrash I have been enjoying over the wochenende (albeit with a technical edge). Deathspell Omega 'Si Monvmentvm Reqvires, Circvmspice' (2004) Another uncompromisingly harsh album with an experimental edge to it, it's black metal that somehow escapes corniness. I am finding this stuff great to do course reading to. I am frustrated by the indecipherable lyrics and would gladly fork out for the CD mit lyrics if i thought they would be anything more than satanist cliche (1972) Long time coming, I was swayed by it's inclusion in Anteater/Comus/Tore's prog beginner's guide and Comus' review of it which mentions it as being the first album to feature dual lead guitars. Laid back prog / dad rock classic, have been putting it through it's paces |

Argus is great. But I think they were already using dual lead guitars on their previous albums. Maybe he said/meant first band to feature dual lead guitars.

Some albums I've gotten recently- Helen Merrill - Helen Merrill with Clifford Brown (1954) Phenomenal vocal jazz album, evocative and full-brimmed with a pleasant smoky darkness. Thanks TL!! CunninLynguists - A Piece of Strange (2006) Production and flow this good should be a criminal offense; it's every damned bit as good as the hipsters 'round MB say it is. Extra kudos for the Arthur Brown samples too. Lydia Kavina - Music From The Ether [Original Works For Theremin] (1999) The most rivetingly spooky electronic album that none of you have ever heard of, performed and recorded by the best thereminist on the planet. Highly recommended.

Philip Glass - Koyaanisqatsi
I know nothing about this. I downloaded it for participation in a listening club.
