It's hotch potch of mellow industrial rhythms, African textures and Dub. Very very good and original. Terrible cover however open this baby up and you have the last years best Drum and Bass release with a liquid Funk edge. Great club music for the more discerning. My favourite remixers Kruder & Dorfmeister's own label compilation. Featuring the usual stellar selection of downtempo chilled tunes. Very very good Hi energy Metal tinged Grindcore.

Before they became The Specials this was the music earning them kudos up and down the country. It's interesting to hear early incarnations of their more famous tunes but it stands up in it's own right too. It's like Ska has grown back up again and recalling it's origins and ditching the heavy guitars. Very respectable. Soul hit the Jamacian scene in the 60's and this album is from one of the finest bands around at the time. It is basically a damn good Soul album with a very gentle Ska swagger.

Elysian Fields - Queen of the Meadow
Love Jennifer Charles' voice and this album I found to be much better than the other one I have Bum Raps and Love Taps Torchbearer - Warnments Grabbed this more for the album cover than anything else, but as far as Melodic Death Metal is concerned it's a very well done album. I think I need to listen to a few more times before anything really starts to stick but I didn't toss it out after the first listen so that's a good thing. Braille - Shades of Grey He's been on my recommendation list from Last.fm for awhile now, I finally got around to checking him out and I wish I had done it sooner. I'm pretty sure he's been featured on at least one of the CunninLynguists tracks which is why he sounds so familiar. I need to give his album another listen before anything becomes concrete, but I really did enjoy the album. |
