Maxwell - BLACKsummers'night (2009)

Nice to see a former neo-soul king return with something fresh and interesting in the Age of Autotune, especially with a very lively 10-man ensemble backing his arrangements. Wonderful!

Scorpions - Lonesome Crow (1972)

Better known for their 80's material, this debut is leaps and bounds different from the Scorpions most people may be familiar with. Their hard rock tendencies are much denser here, cultivating a sound more akin to bands like Can and Neu than, say, Van Halen. A recommended addition to interested parties' collections.

Beardfish - Destined Solitaire (2009)

Guitar-n-weird keyboards-organ heavy progressive rock that would've made Frank Zappa proud, and another album of the year contender. Warning: This is extremely groovy stuff.

Bit of a old school thrash day today.

Woah...never seen that cover before. Reissue? Completely threw me off guard. Pretty good album though, definitely different from what most people are used to. Kind of prog-like even.

I've heard Sleeping in Traffic: Part One which isn't bad. Lots of different styles in there, I remember being reminded of several different non-prog bands while listening to it. Only played it twice so far, it's far too long IMO which keeps me from going back to it often. Need to check out Part Two probably before I check out this new one.

The Boredoms - Soul Discharge, as freaked out as I was expecting, but doesn't have the same charm as Afrirampo, especially the vocals.

What do you consider his best album? I like his last one but don't know the others.
