I recently got a vinyl gatefold of: http://www.kokujinmedia.com/wp-conte...ng-Forever.jpg on Discogs for around $45. It's in perfect condition! Pretty damn good deal I'd say...:) |
I recently brought TLC's album CrazySexyCool on CD. And I'm not gonna lie, it's a really good album. One of my favourites from my collection.

Also, QR have done some wonderful metal-oriented stuff throughout the 80's and 90's beyond the first EP. The Warning, Rage For Order, Operation: Mindcrime, Empire and Promised Land are all essential listening in my opinion, so check 'em out one of these days if you haven't done so already. :) |

**** Buttons - Slow Focus
this is some good **** man. It's more abrasive than tarot sport, but also it can be more accessible at times. Worth the wait! When my local record store gets the vinyl of it, I'll probably get it. |

Just order the Spyral's Out Of Sight album on red vinyl. Comes with a free download which I just burned to a cd-r.
http://f0.bcbits.com/img/a0255360605_2.jpg Fine batch of garage rock with a psychedelic edge. Check out their sounds here: OUT OF SIGHT | The Spyrals |

The Feelies - Crazy Rhythms (1980) Trying to get into more of the American post-punk bands and this album has always slipped me by. |

Thomas Was Alone OST by David Housden It kind of goes without saying that indie games automatically have really good soundtracks and this is no exception. The soundtrack compliments the gameplay and story quite well, a good blend of melancholy, quirk, and inspiration that follows those sections of the game. It's mostly strings and piano pieces, but with some nice chiptune and ambiance thrown in for good measure. |

Joe Purdy - Julie Blue (2004) Laid back, folky, singer/songwriter stuff. This is just the kind of album I was looking for for my holidays. http://www.metalkingdom.net/album/co...verisakeet.jpg Moonsorrow - Verisäkeet (2005) I used to have an abum of these guys a while back, and I cant even remember which one it was. It didnt leave much of an impression on me. This one, however, left me wanting more. Somewhat of a mixed back of folk, black and prog metal, with some of the most intense screaming I have heard for a while. http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/_/...e+In+Crowd.jpg Dobie Gray - The In Crowd Compilation of 60s/70s Texas soul. Pretty good, but can anyone recommend where to start with the studio records? |

Ghostpoet - Some Say I So I Say LIght This album's just as good as his last album, and it's still got the same relaxing and interesting sound. There's some cool experimentation with the beats, and there's even a track with This Heat's Charles Hayward that's pretty awesome too. Highly recommended for hip-hop fans. |

Talking Heads - Remain in Light I still think Fear of Music is their best album, but my collection does feel a little poorer without this. |

Green Day - 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours Consists of their first studio album, their two first EPs, and a track from a compilation album. I like it a lot more than American Idiot and most of what I've heard from their later works, it's great. |
Moar musics...
http://static.rateyourmusic.com/lk/f...85/4307638.jpg TOY - TOY (2012) Still trying to wrap my head around this one, neo-psych, post-punk, krautrock, I don't know. There are a few standout tracks but the rest needs more time to sink in. http://static.rateyourmusic.com/lk/f...dd/4247888.jpg New War - New War (2012) Enjoying this Australian art/post-punk album, works well as an album with good variation between tracks. I've only played it twice so far and look forward to more. One track in particular reminded me of Wilderness and early Killing Joke combined, but I wouldn't say that's the case for the entire album. http://static.rateyourmusic.com/lk/f...66/4231950.jpg Beak> - >> (2012) Post-punk and krautrock, an overall enjoyable and somewhat challenging album with a few immediate standouts. http://static.rateyourmusic.com/lk/f...f0/4774036.jpg µ-Ziq - Chewed Corners (2013) His first since 2007's Duntisbourne Abbots Soulmate Devastation Technique, and a sharp contrast to that one's bleak landscape. I enjoyed several songs, and wonder how I'll feel about the album after a few more listens. Mike Paradinas has some classic stuff and is definitely a legend, but he's never been all that consistent either. http://static.rateyourmusic.com/lk/f...a0/4309843.jpg Hexvessel - No Holier Temple (2012) Now this is something very interesting. I've heard a few songs from here on my Spotify playlist of things I need to check out, and they've been impressive. The overall vibe here is Psychedelic Folk or Neofolk, but you could also easily call it Progressive Folk. It's funny that the vocalist at times reminds me of Maynard James Keenan, in his softer voice. The track "His Portal Tomb" sounds like a cross between Tool and Black Sabbath. The riff is Sabbath, but it never goes all metal or anything. It stays folky. I like this, and recommend this. Finnish band, English vocals. Also, RYM now embeds larger images in links! :tramp: You still have to copy/paste the code they provide after you click the album cover on the album page, though. |

The Hexvessel album is fantastic. I second the recommendation for anyone who likes Psych-folk. I think anyone who likes a variety of prog-rock sounds would enjoy it as well. |

Crisis "Holocaust Hymns" I'm seeing DIJ in a few months, and I hadn't ever really listened to Crisis, the leftist punk outfit that housed future members of Sol Invictus and Death In June. I'm just amazed at how fucking weird this whole thing is. How do you go from Anarchist ultra-left wing punk (a la Crass), to an almost parody of right-wing white nationalists? I just don't know what to think, and if I should feel bad for listening to it all. http://media.warp.net/images/WARPCD0...kshot_1000.jpg Autechre "LP5" I heard "Rae" via link, and was searching through my library looking for it just to see if it went ignored. Turns out I didn't have it, so here it is. |
Finally getting caught up with this year's new album. Got my hands on:
Children of Bodom - Halo of Blood Tessaract - Altered State Rob Zombie - Venemous Rat Regeneration Vendor Iron & Wine - Ghost on Ghost Megadeth - Super Collider Some that I have already had the pleasure of enjoying from this year: Sigur Ros - Kveikur: Fantastic release, really happy with how it turned out, however I find myself enjoying Valtari and Takk a little bit more, still. City & Colour - The Hurry & The Harm: Love it. Love love love it. I remember when Little Hell was released and how impressed I was; same exact reaction to this album. Dallas Green always delivers. Streetlight Manifesto - The Hands That Thieve: Not a terrible album, but didn't leave much of an impression. Black Sabbath - 13: Really enjoyed it, though I think they tried a little hard at times to make it sound like it came from the 70's. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories: Still feels new. I can listen to it and still get goosebumps related to the first listen goosebumps. Bullet For My Valentine - Temper Temper: By far the worst release of this year. I was expecting at least a little bit of effort even though this band has always been known to be bad, it just seems like they barely tried with this one. Killswitch Engage - Disarm The Descent: One of my top 5 of 2013. So much energy, power, and heavy metal all combined into one fantastic release. Really happy with how it turned out since I had very high expectations for it. That's all i've been able to get through so far, but there are still a large number of albums that I still need to get around to listening to. This year is actually turning out to be a very good year for music. |

Average is about the nicest thing anyone can say about Woods of Ypres unfortunately. |
Yeah, it was basically really bad. I am just being nice as I was not 100% listening to it.
Mojo played Blood Ceremony in plug.dj and I really liked the album, |
Quote:
I completely disagree on WOY too. I love that release. Initially it took some getting used to, their movement away from atmospheric black metal into more doom and by Woods 5, it's like 90% doom and completely clean vocals on that 90% as well. The vocals are somber, gloomy, almost talked in parts and the record is almost completely themed around death. The words seem to hold much more weight when you consider that David Gold passed between the albums recording and its release and so Woods 5 is the final installment of the bands discography. A very fitting end. |
I am a one listen kind of guy for albums I just don't like. I also have not heard anything from the band beforehand so felt no need to give it another chance.
|
They arent a band without their fair share of crap, and they did change their sound a lot over the years. I like the Against the Seasons EP and Pursuit of the Sun. I like Woods 5. Woods 3 didn't leave an impression on me and Woods 4 sucked.
