Mongrel are a group formed in 2008, by former Arctic Monkeys bassist Andy Nicholson. Alongside Nicholson in the band are Jon McClure and Joe Moskow, both of Reverend and the Makers, Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell and Matt Helders from Arctic Monkeys as well as London rapper Lowkey from the Poisonous Poets. |

Off kilter metal. Not quite odd enough to be Avant Garde but still a bit fucked up!

I felt the same way, I've really been getting into trip hop lately so when I was reading about some of the pinnacle albums of the genre that one was held very high. While I thought it was good, I also felt that it wasn't as good as the reviews that I had read for it made it out to be.

^ Props to Demonoid for this one. Haven't given it a listen just yet, but I'm muchly looking forward to. ^ Given that I'm a bit obsessed with the Pogues, it was pretty much inevitable I'd get into these guys one day. |

That Handsome Devil - A City Dressed In Dynamite A fun debut from a band both accessible and very avant-garde in their approach to music; funk, 50's rock n' roll, electronica, jazz and everything else gets blended together into something awesome. Return to Forever - S/T Among the best beginnings in all of jazz/jazz-fusion, though many would disagree. Its appeal partly lies in the fact that its energetic without turning into Noodle-fest, which is a rare quality in albums of this kind. Highly recommended!
