Stereolab & Nurse With Wound - Simple Headphone Mind

I can't even begin to imagine what a collaboration between a pure noise band like Nurse With Wound and a band with melodic pop sensibilities like Stereolab would sound like but i'm looking forward to finding out.

Medium Medium - The Glitterhouse

More funk influenced post punk from a band who I believe were tipped for great things at one time , until Gang Of Four released Entertainment a couple of months later & stole all their thunder. This is also a lot easier on the ear than Entertainment as well , I prefer it.

Marquis De Sade - Dantzig Twist

Apparently the French media used to call Joy Division "England's answer to Marquis Du Sade"
We shall see.

Ten Bright Spikes - Astro Stukas

A band who seemingly can't decide if they want to rip off Sonic Youth's Dirty or REM's Murmer. Either way it's pretty good and a lot better than plenty of other more well known 'alternative' rock bands that were around in the early 90s when this was released.

Anteater, that's two great Genesis albums there! One pre "Lamb Lies Down on broadway, bye bye Peter Gabriel / controversy and one post said conflicts... both are amongst the bands best though!

After a couple of listens, this might be my second favorite Smiths album, behind The Queen is Dead.

Pretty good, not top 25 material though manny.

I was pleased with this, very pleased.

I got this from through our ever-reliable Anteater and it's good fun, a solid heavy prog album.
A few sources seem to be claiming it's heavy metal but there are far too many flutes; this comparison is obviously down to the cliche B-movie occultism - lyrics and themes that would dominate metal subgenres for decades to come.

There's not a lot of musical showmanship on offer here for a prog album, but plenty of Vox organ and the grooves are sufficiently stoned / the wails sufficiently proto-metal to keep you smiling. An interesting document, early Sabbath similarities aside! The artwork's creepier than the music though, it has to be said.
If I could be so crass as to quote myself and add that on second/third listen this is a fine, fine album - very accessible too. I have checked and it is easily available online, deffo worth seeking out if you like your classic prog/psychedelic rock. Come to the Sabbat, Satan's there...

Good. I was afraid I'd hype it up too much and you'd get it and be like wtf. Glad you like it though.

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez "Megaritual"

This year's first offering from my favorite guitarist. It's sounding like an even weirder instrumental version of The Mars Volta. I'm liking it so far.
