Deicide - The Stench Of Redemption Really loving the songs 'The Stench Of Redemption' and 'Not Of This Earth'. Other than that, nothing's really capturing me. 'Till Death Do Us Part' is my last requirement to complete my Deicide collection. |

The Gaslight Anthem - American Slang Listening now for the first time. It seems ok so far, nothing special, but hopefully a few more listens will do the trick. I loved Sink Or Swim and The '59 Sound so i'm hoping this will be just as good or even better. |
^ Solid album by them I felt.

One that's a few years old and a fairly new one; downloaded and bought, respectively.
http://img15.nnm.ru/4/4/a/d/d/75dea9...6ef065173b.jpg The Devin Townsend Band (my favorite artist atm) - Synchestra http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B001Q8FSRA.jpg The Agonist - Lullabies For The Dormant Mind |
If you like Devin Townsend you should definitely check out Strapping Young Lad. It's a lot heavier and more cathartic, but still has the melody found in his solo material. You should also definitely check out some of his earlier solo material like Terria, Infinity, Biomech: Ocean Machine, Physicist, and the first Devin Townsend Band album Accelerated Evolution. As for SYL, I would normally suggest City as the first album but in this case I would recommend The New Black because it's their most accessible album and most similar to Devin's solo material.

Giving Aphex Twin a shot. Supposedly he was only 14 years old during the time of some of the songs on the recording. I downloaded this one because this is apparently his most lauded album. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg Aphex Twin- Richard D. James Album I downloaded this one because I love the album art. |

Devin Townsend - Accelerated Evolution (2006) This debut from Devin Townsend's Band project merges his super colossal studio slickness with SYL's edgier moments into the beginnings of an awesome string of albums. Muy excellente! http://www.mp3boo.com/cover-album/th...elf_titled.jpg Third Eye Blind - S/T (1997) Amidst a rather meh discography shines this something of a one-hit-wonder record that I picked up in its 14-track entirety today, and all things considered its ideal late 90's pop-rock with a certain grunginess to it in the right places rather than the wrong ones that pervaded bands of TEB's ilk. Sure, 'Semi-Charmed Life' gets the frump played out of it even now on radio and advertisements, but the sheer irony of even that track is such that it still kicks arse regardless. :) |

http://c.ilike.com/w/0676/070/0676070252_m.jpg Another new release I somehow heard about lately. I don't exactly expect anything earth-shakingly spectacular, but it'll kill some time. |

I can't get enough of 'Veteran of the Psychic Wars' from Fire of Unknown Origin. |
^ This is pretty obvious coming from me, but you really can't go wrong with any of the BOC's output. :)
As for me- http://www.kscopemusic.com/wp-conten...VER-HR-RGB.jpg The Pineapple Thief - Someone Here Is Missing (2010) Although quite Radiohead-esque in places (in a good way), Steve Wilson's production coupled with some rather punchy songwriting makes this one of 2010's more exhilarating releases for me so far, and is without a doubt the most interesting/distinctive release in this oft-ignored group's discography. http://www.progreviews.com/reviews/images/JT-CoaK.jpg Jethro Tull - Crest of a Knave (1987) Being the album that bested both Metallica and Jane's Addiction at the Grammys back in '89 in the Hard Rock/Metal category, one can't help but be curious, which led to me buying it yesterday during a bookstore browsing session. Rest assured though, I am still baffled even after a couple of spins: this is fantastic stuff and rather underrated in the Tull's discography, but Best Hard Rock Performance? Strange! |
