I downloaded it because it seems to have a decent level of praise. I'm not quite feeling it though...

I like guitar compositions! especially solo-guitar...
so... recently I heard about Andy McKee!
I know this is not solo but... Rylynn
this composition so impressed me =)

Tobacco - Maniac Meat (2010)

The new Rosetta album drops today but I've had that for nearly a month now and the debut Bitter Ruin album was also released today but for some reason the MP3 tracks on Amazon or iTunes aren't available until Thursday... oh well the new Hank Williams III and Tobacco will have to hold me over till then.

Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine - The Audacity of Hype
Finally got around to getting this and listening to it right now. Seeing the songs 'Electronic Plantation' and 'New Feudalism', from Jello's stint with The No W.T.O. Combo, has me excited.

Wintersleep - New Inheritors
I love the band but nothing has jumped out at me upon the first listen. Seems they're still going for their more WTTNS sound which I was somewhat against at first but I still really enjoy that album so we'll see where this goes.

GTUK - Illusions to the Max
New addition to my 8-Bit/Electronic/Nintendo/Hardcore collection.

An un-officially released later album from the band. Haven't listened to it yet.

My latest was David Bowie Earthling!

I wasn't impressed with it at first but it grew on me a bit more on the second listen. On some parts they sound like they're trying new things but not quite pulling it off. It's ok but it's a disappointment compared to their previous albums.

i'm becoming seriously addicted to ambient music ;)

Bulldog 05-26-2010 05:03 AM

^^
Very nice choice. Gaz Cobain and Brian Dougans (aka FSOL) are easily two of the most talented composers and producers in electronic music - I'm a massive fan of theirs. Environments II is just as good (and epic) as that as well.

noise 05-26-2010 05:41 AM

i ended up grabbing all FSOL in one big pack, but i'm finding their early stuff to be too lound and jittery for my tastes. the two Environments releases are really fantastic though.

Chequerboard - Penny Black

very evocative acoustic ambient soundscapes. gotta find more stuff like this :D

Dea-Destruction 05-26-2010 09:53 AM

The last album(s) I bought were Breathe Carolina, and Paramore. Oh, the Cake album too. Im pretty boring, and lame.

sidewinder 05-26-2010 11:35 AM

Downloaded these two last night, inspired by the opening track in the movie The Business that I was watching. Of course I know all the hits from back in the day (and really like some of them), and at some point I had a best of album, but I never heard any albums proper. I am enjoying them aside from a couple of duds.

Not really sure what their best album is, if they even have one.. But I'm going in order from their first to their last. This is their second.

That sucks... I live in constant fear that my desktop will fry and take my two external backups with it. I would highly recommend you pick up a 500 gb external hard drive and back up your music on it. You can get little tiny palm sized ones for less than $100 US now.

Use your iPod to transfer everything back to your PC?

I think it's already too late, my laptop wont even go to the user menu bit, i have like a million really valuable songs that I had to get off my old PC which recently died a horrible death and needs a new harddrive I just need money to buy a new harddrive and the guy said he'll transfer it for free. Now the laptop has ****ed up :( So I'm having to use my dads. And I hate it.

Is that possible? Plus alot of songs I'd unchecked because they were embarassing :o: like old skool disses we thought were cool when I was in academy ha.

TheCunningStunt 05-26-2010 03:41 PM

Yeah it's possible, there are programmes you can download to your PC and you plug it in and copy them over. I used to use "iDump"

Ah I see, well I'll try that once it's back in business. I'm going to try running its battery out first and then seeing if it'll turn on properly afterwards, if not I'll have to reboot it. :(:(

TheCunningStunt 05-26-2010 03:52 PM

Good luck! Losing music is a pain in the arse :(

Anyway, to rub it in I've been on the download. loveissucide's latest downloads have reminded me of something I've needed to do.

I'll need it. I'm going to ransack this thread for albums I'd previously downloaded :D

Most recently I've bought the album "6" by Soil & "PIMP" Sessions. Never really got into jazz before but I thought it was great. There was real talent, creativity and flow.

The National - Alligator

Listened to this band a while ago, didn't really like. Recently I decided to re-visit it, as my music taste has changed somewhat since I last gave it a chance. Dunno what to get next, Boxer seems the obvious one I guess.

Please turn me into the snat - Connan mockasin.

Not bad, but it was hyped up way too much pre-launch.

Bitter Ruin - Hung Drawn and Quartered (2010)

Amorphous Androgynous - Alice in Ultraland

a side project from the Future Sound of London boys. really unique stuff, a mix of progressive and psychedelic rock sounds mixed with electronic elements, with the occasional sitar thrown in for good measure. great album overall, lots and lots to take in. highly recommended :D
