I woke up this morning and thought 'gee, wouldn't it be swell if I got some more old-styled indie today?'. So, a few hours later I got myself these;

Yeah, it's pretty good stuff. I actually had that Wedding Present album along with their third one before too, but lost them both along with about 2000 other songs in a kinda mini-crash a year or so ago. It'll be cool getting re-acquainted with it, seeing as I've listened to George Best to death and all.

James 05-11-2010 04:07 PM

George Best is a classic.

shoegazey, triphoppy music from indonesia

duga 05-13-2010 04:03 AM

^

You said the magic words with that post, noise. Shoegazey triphoppy music? You freaking kidding? If there is one combination of genres that would pique my interest, that would be it. My love for all things Asian and the fact they are from Indonesia is like icing on the cake. Though, there's nothing really Asian about their music. Thanks for letting us know about that one, I'm checking them out now.

noise 05-13-2010 04:19 AM

haha well i hope it meets your expectations :)

Mahmoud Awad - Too Fast For Time

With this writeup how could I not download this?

Quote:

This artist is from the future. There are no current records of his life, where he lives, or anything about him. This album must be treated with great respect, because it is the first that has been sent back in time to us.

Perhaps we will someday find out how this artist was able to send his album back in time.

This album is a gift from the future designed to ensnare the souls of all that could not comprehend it.

Tegan & Sara - So Jealous

My first Tegan & Sara album :D

I love that album, they really know how to write memorable tunes. Their last album Sainthood is a cracker as well.

Yeah I listened to their last album on Spotify, it seemed more poppy than 'So Jealous' but good nonetheless.

What about 'The Con'? Is that any good? It sounds like they were both going through a hard time when it was written.

The Con is good enough, it's a bit inconsistent though. On some of the songs it sounds like they were trying to experiment a bit but not quite succeeding. But it's definitely worth getting for 'Back In Your Head' and the title track. Sainthood is a bit poppier alright but it's good pop, it's definitely worth checking out.

+81 05-14-2010 03:40 PM

'The Con' definitely has it's highlights but I don't really think it's on par with a lot of their other album.

TheCunningStunt 05-14-2010 03:43 PM

Which one would you say is their best out of Under Feet Like Ours (1999), This Business of Art (2000) and If It Was You (2002)?

Zer0 05-14-2010 03:49 PM

Out of those 3 it has to be If It Was you, they started to find their sound on that album and 'Monday Monday Monday' is a great tune. A lot of the songs on their first album were re-recorded for their second and their vocal style was a bit different but they're both good albums.

+81 05-14-2010 04:00 PM

I agree, If It Was You is my second favourite album of theirs after Sainthood.

TheCunningStunt 05-14-2010 04:04 PM

Cheers fellas, that's settled it. I have 2 new Tegan & Sara albums :D

James 05-14-2010 04:13 PM

You have Spotify Cunning Stunt? (you really should disclose your name it some point)
