I just can't get into Wilco... i have absolutely no idea why, but I just can't... they always struck me as a bit bland, but that's just me, I don't have a huge place in my heart for alt - country either...
|
I'll agree with you but maybe I need to give them more listens. I dunno.

Yeah man. I'm a big Sonic Youth fan, have just been buying all of their albums gradually so I seen The Eternal in Probe and picked it up, I'm yet to listen to it though! Always loved Grizzly Bear and I spilt beer on my copy so had to buy a new one, and have basically just been wanting to see what this hype over Phoenix was about. They're playing a couple of festivals I'm at this year so will probably get the chance to see them at some point.

going in order of preference of the 3 most recent:
Caribou - Swim http://spartanedge.com/blogs/spartan...ou-swim-aa.jpg Various Artists (Mixed by Jaytech and James Grant) - Anjunadeep 02 http://www.knb2009.com/wp-content/up...ames-Grant.jpg Minus the Bear -OMNI http://www.bighassle.com/minusthebea...ver_select.jpg all very gooooD. |
OMNI! I most definitely need to purchase that.
|
That's gonna be a download-first for me. Their last was technically good but boring compared to the band's beginnings.
|
I might do the same. Although I can't say I dislike anything they've produced, so I might go out and just buy it. I've heard from a few people that it's awesome, but I'm just gonna see how healthy or unhealthy my bank balance is.
|
OMNI is much better than planet of ice. POI was their only album that I haven't been all that impressed with.

DJ Frane - Journey to the Planet of Birds if you dig DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, RJD2, Emancipator, Nightmares on Wax... |

Punk Goes Classic Rock.
I really enjoyed this album and would give it a 9.5/10 My main problem with it was that no one really changed anything, would've been nice to see something different. Great covers though. |

Popol Vuh - Nosferatu (On The Way To A Little Way)
|
Bought two today, which is rare.
http://files.fluctuat.net/images/s/i/sixtoo.jpg Simply because I never thought I would find it down here, despite its ginormous price tag http://itsnaturaltobeafraid.files.wo...dtroducing.jpg Simply because it was so cheap (I don't even love the album) |
how can you not love Endtroducing...?
it's one of the best albums ever created. it definitely holds a place in my top 10. |

There's some eclectic tastes in this thread! I recently downloaded the Noisia album (Split the Atom) as well as Plan B's second album (The Defamation of Strickland Banks)! I quite like dance music and underground stuff too, but I also like chart music and I think there's a lot of good stuff out at the moment.
Has anyone else bought either of these albums? |

Gogol Bordello - Trans-Continental Hustle (2010) New Gogol Bordello album that I downloaded before I left for school but for my Zune connector cable seems to not want to work so I haven't gotten a chance to listen to it. http://blogs.crikey.com.au/johnnys/f...rt-300x300.jpg The Tallest Man on Earth - The Wild Hunt (2010) I loved his 2008 release Shallow Graves so I'm hoping this album continues his winning streak. |
Oh yeah I got 4 new albums yesterday.
http://www.amazing-zone.com/catalog/...in%20Tobey.jpg Lead singer of Abe Froman, made a very nice folk album http://shockmountain.files.wordpress...ng?w=455&h=455 http://www.noidearecords.com/bands/r...ice_europe.jpg In the process of listening to this now http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/l...28a4-320wi.jpg |
This is shaping up to be a good page. A lot of good folk/folk-punk and the Tobacco album I've been eager to hear.

i definately reccomend this to anyone who wants a well produced and intriguing hip hop record. Aceyalone really knows how to tell a story and weave some great lyrics, and the beats by RJD2 are eclectic and fun as hell. speaking of RJD2 http://melbomusic.files.wordpress.co...deadringer.jpg haven't listened to it yet, but will momentarily |
