Cheers for the tip, I've only heard their greatest hits (that's what started my interest in them..) then I got Doolittle and Surfer Rosa. Now I'm just trying to fill in my collection :D

Modern Life is War - Midnight in America
Kind of an accidental download. Clicked the wrong link but I like the band so I went for it.

A Place To Bury Strangers - A Place To Bury Strangers
I had about half the album, thought I'd fill the gap.

Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles
Been waiting for this for a while. Not a disappointment at all but not sure if it's up to par with the last album. Still very good and more listens are definitely needed. Doe Deer rocks my socks.

MGMT - Congratulations
It's pretty consistently enjoyable throughout the whole albums. Certainly a different feel than Oracular Spectacular and Climbing To New Lows. It's Working and Brian Eno are the tracks that have won me over the most. The whole semi-surfy vibe in It's Working is excellent and the little hook at the "It's working in your blood" part is irresistible.

I really like it, not quite as much as The Great Depression, but it's still a very good album.

I've got to give it a more thorough listen before I decide what my favorite tracks are, but so far my favorite is Road Signs Always Look Better Looking Over Your Shoulder.

^ Sounds pretty interesting from what I've heard about it. Worth a try at least.

Jaga Jazzist - One-Armed Bandit (2010)

Wasn't aware they had a new album that came out this year, suffice it to say it is definitely worth a look.

Fear Factory - Mechanize (2010)

Catching up on some of my 2010 releases that have passed me by. Gene Hoglan's drumming is awesome on this album and it switches from extreme to melodic very well.

Charred Walls of the Damned - Charred Walls of the Damned (2010)

Tim 'Ripper' Owens and Steve DiGiorgio on the same album? Hell yes!

Frightened Rabbit - The Winter of Mixed Drinks (2010)

I enjoyed their 2008 album The Midnight Organ Fight so I decided to give this one a try.

Barenaked Ladies - All In Good Time (2010)

I'm interested to see how they sound now that Steven Page is gone.

How did you find it? I loved The Midnight Organ Fight.. The Winter of Mixed Drinks hasn't really grown on me yet. :(

haven't actually listened to it yet, still working my way through Mechanize by Fear Factory. Sorry but metal comes first.

I found it to be a bit typical. Great musicianship, no doubt, but they just didn't do anything new to grab my attention. If I find myself in the mood for your everyday indie rock, I would put on that album.

Soo unless I stumbled into the wrong place I was told to come here about The Smasking Pumpkins album Siamese Dream.
This music makes me want to go lie on a cloud and dream about things. < Not actually joking about that. It's so relaxing. Same affect 15 Fathoms Counting has on me, just nice.

I've been transformed.

Just listened to my most recent branching out purchase.... The Incident by Porcupine Tree.... very, very awesome indeed! I feel, however, that i am only just brushing the surface of this album and indeed the band's music in general.... I feel like I have much much more to discover and enjoy, and i think I have found a band very worthy of taking me on the journey...

Thanks for posting that video, because of that I checked out this album and it was very good. I think I'm going to pass it onto a friend of mine who would very much appreciate it :)

I have a few less than flattering things to say about the album, I think "run of the mill" would perhaps be the kindest of them.

sidewinder 04-22-2010 12:58 AM

Pavement - Terror Twilight

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg

Shiner - Lula Divinia

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg

I've yet to hear either one. The is the only Pavement studio album I've yet to hear, about time I get around to it. For Shiner, I've had Splay and Starless for several years and recently revisited them. According to popular opinion, those are the two weakest ones so I'm going to check out the supposed better two, starting with this one.

LoathsomePete 04-22-2010 12:59 AM

I really enjoyed The Egg and would highly recommend it if you're into them :)
