Possibly the one I listen to least of the Mick Jones-era.London Calling,Sandanista and Combat Rock are where the real genius is.

I'll get there eventually, just figured I'd start at the beginning.

Just ordered these CDs on amazon. The first one I downloaded last week and found it brilliant (second listen as I type), so I want it in my physical collection. The second one I haven't heard yet. Can't find a decent quality download so I might as well buy this 99 cent copy on Amazon.

Ambulance - Curse of Vale Do Lobo (2003, Planet Mu)

Songs for the Deaf and Rated R are two brilliant album, the latter being my favourite. But I never bothered with their debut S/T..

Really? Why? I loved Rated R

sidewinder 04-19-2010 05:44 PM

I don't dislike Rated R, I just feel the s/t is more solid. Rated R has some top-notch songs but also some I don't like as much.

Just listened to their S/T, some really good sounds coming out there. I felt Rated R is more obvious though, bit more catchy. First time I listened to Rated R having Nicotine, Valium, Vicodin, Marijuana, Ecstasy and Alcohollllll coming at you was great. But a solid album nevertheless.

See that's one of the things that annoys me most about that album. Funny the first time, annoying each time after that.

As charged.

You've never heard it before? If you're like me, in a few months you'll be posting it in the Albums You're Digging thread. I didn't get Loveless for a while. :(

Thinkman - The Formula (1986)

Some rare but striking late 80's synth-pop I ran across not too long ago: vocalist and songwriter Rupert Hine has a rather unusual sense of delivery and overall composition, whether its conjuring epic processions of skittering beats or rushing forward in bursts with material that rivals early New Order in sheer catchiness.

All in all, a forgotten classic I'm happy to now have.

I haven't given it a proper listen yet, but I felt it was about time I stopped ignoring it. If an album is truly great, I have no problems with how popular it is, so I hope it's as good as its reputation.

It's to be expected. As Doolittle and Surfer Rosa are absolutely brilliant, I hope Bossanova is quite good though.. is Trompe Le Monde gash or pretty good?

James 04-20-2010 01:30 AM

^It isn't nearly as good but it is still great and Velouria would be in my top 5 Pixies tracks.
With Trompe Le Monde it isn't great but if you are a Pixies fan you will no doubt enjoy it.

Get their debut Come on Pilgrim if you need a fix of some great Pixies music that you've probably (I'm assuming) never heard before. Caribou alone makes it worth checking out the 8 song EP.
