Soundgarden - Superunknown (1994)

I've heard most of the tracks here at one point or another, but until now I didn't have this delicious album in its entirety: I am now thrilled that I do.

Sting - ...Nothing Like The Sun (1987)

A strangely well-crafted selection of generally noncommercial dark pop music from a musician defined by sunnier commercial pop success. Been a nice trip so far...and I'm getting lots of curious post-New Wave vibes.

Edgar Froese - Epsilon In Malaysian Pale (1975)

An early solo work from the genius behind Tangerine Dream, and by Jove is it blissful! Fans of Phaedra or Rubycon or good ambient in general should pick this up.

I also had a few in the hand but I ended up putting them back just because I didn't want to spend too much money. Those 7 CD's were $61 so I didn't do very bad. I immediately snatched up A Piece of Strange though because of how rare it is to find that album in CD format, most places online are trying to sell it for over $100 so to get it for $14.99 was awesome. All in all I'm very happy with my turn out this year, I think next year I'll have to return and go at it again.

Blazing Arrow is an awesome album indeed. <3
Glad the store had a good hiphop section. The used hiphop section at Grimey's is pretty pitiful. Lots of indie and rock though.

Yeah, it was a really cool first listen. I'll definately have to spend more time with it though, it feels like real grower.

Kind of bummed when I noticed that it looks like the album was dropped on in's corner. Whatever I guess, the record is fine. Came with a groovy poster too.

Yes it's punk. I haven't really gotten around to listening to it yet... but from what people say, it's quite good.

Ramones S/T

I'm getting myself some Ramones albums, next on the list: Leave Home and Rocket to Russia.

James 04-18-2010 11:18 AM

Good it's criminal you don't already have them :D

TheCunningStunt 04-18-2010 11:27 AM

Never really bothered with them, never thought they were that good. Then I started listening to a couple of their albums on Spotify, so I thought I'd get a few of their early ones. Their S/T is most enjoyable

James 04-18-2010 11:29 AM

That it is.

James 04-18-2010 01:12 PM

Talbot & Deru - Genus

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

Quote:

Genus is an electro-acoustic score for wayne mcgregor's ballet of the same title, based on charles darwin's discovery of evolution. the musical composition in eight parts is a collaborational work between joby talbot and deru. talbot has a high profile as a film and tv composer. screen credits include cult television comedy series 'the league of gentlemen' and 'the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy'. deru is benjamin wynn, an electronic music producer from los angeles. his music is best described as an amalgamation of hip-hop, electronica and idm. genus embodies a synergy and culmination of various musical influences. minimal music and 20th century compositional textures performed by a ten part choir and four string instruments establish a perfect symbiosis with deru's complex electronic patterns. ...
