YĪN YĪN - The Rabbit That Hunts Tigers (2019)

Debut album from YĪN YĪN out of Maastricht, Netherlands. Instrumental music with a Southeast Asian vibe mixed with a bit of retro 70's disco. Sounds like it could be the soundtrack to a martial arts action movie.

Recently downloaded Bastille's Doom Days album. Reception to it from critics was pretty lukewarm, but I think it's pretty underrated so far. Really good replay-ability, and it feels more like a further refinement of what they were working towards (and failed to achieve, imho) on their previous album Wild World. The chorus-centric vocals from Bad Blood are mostly replaced by long, drawn out vocals from the lead and I think it works really well. There's a good variance of full, hard hitting melodies and pared-down beats. Overall this is my 2nd favorite effort from them, definitely blown away by the great writing and arrangements from Bad Blood but much more developed and coherent than Wild World.
