So I played Cujo this morning...I suggest you go ahead and pick it up. It's different from the stuff under his proper name in that it's more trip-hop oriented, and the jazz and drum n bass elements are a bit more obvious (though not present on every track) rather than distorted and manipulated like he started to do after this. So it's more typical of the 90s, I guess. But very chill, very good.

Is this the Manitoba that would become Caribou? I haven't heard any of the older stuff.

David Shrigley's Worried Noodles

I kept seeing the name of this comp around some artists I'm into so I thought I'd look into it. Exclusive tracks by Deerhoof, Dirty Projectors, Liars, Les George Leningrad, Islands, Grizzly Bear, R. Stevie Moore, Mount Eerie and more.

Dethklok - The Dethalbum
I've been watching Metalocalypse a lot lately so I thought I'd pick up the torrent with this as well. I'm kind of hooked on Into The Water.

This is some funny stuff. An EP of live ska/punk Taking Back Sunday covers.

Funnily enough, I've been looking for a good way to start properly digging around the vast world of jazz since forever, and I think I might just have found it.

Just got the tracks off Tool's 72826 cassette demo last night.

I love this band. It's so cool to listen to these early recordings and hear how much they've progressed over the years. It almost makes them...more human.
I feel like a jerk though, I know the band would disapprove of my having these tracks.

IYT 04-13-2010 07:47 AM

I've just got done downloading:

Escape The Fate - Not Good Enough For Truth In Cliche
Sing It Loud - Sugar Sweet
Farewell - First One On The Blog

I love earlier recordings too and hearing how bands have progressed. Why would the band disapprove of you having those tracks?

Cuz I downloaded it. And the band is totally anti-downloading and bootlegging and all that.

I'll tell you after I have a listen. :D

I've heard some of their others, though. Indie/alt. country/americana/low-fi. It's not generally my style (the alt. country/americana part) but I like two of their albums quite a bit. The 3rd I've heard hasn't done much for me so far. Stephen Malkmus from Pavement on some albums, including this one. I think I prefer the stuff he's involved with.

sidewinder 04-13-2010 10:28 PM

More stuffs.

Ambulance - Curse of Vale Do Lobo

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

Clutchy Hopkins - The Life of Clutchy Hopkins

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg

Someone recommended Clutchy Hopkins some time back, and I added it to my wish list. I can't remember who. Anyway it's chill & jazzy instrumental hip-hop.

Some alternate takes but much more intriguing are a 4 track Peel session and a 7 track BBC Radio 1 concert they did. Noice.

Damn thats a shame.
All their BBC stuff was released on a double album a few years back. :(

Mojo 04-14-2010 03:04 PM

^^ Probably the same stuff that was in the Stone Deaf Forever boxset. If it is, it's awesome.

(Broken Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock Record)

My initial impression is that it's okay--about what you'd expect but not as good as the s/t and YFIiP. I think this one is going to be a slow grower, though.

Mojo 04-14-2010 06:41 PM

Do you like deadmau5 Kayleigh?

NSW 04-14-2010 06:52 PM

She obviously hates it.

Mojo 04-14-2010 06:53 PM

She just downloaded them all so she would have the satisfaction of then deleting them.

Totally lost track of this band... loved them in about 2005 but they were one of those bands that, for me, just kinda fell through cracks when I moved from Australia to the US... if you have an upload of any of their stuff, would happily take it...:)

I'm excited to see that this is out, I guess I have to get it myself. I hope it's not as disappointing as I think it will be.

They haven't really released an album since 2005, actually, until this one. Although Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning did each release a "solo" record that essentially count as a double BSS album.

I could potentially do some uploads when I get on a better internet connection in a few days.

Mick Harris & Neil Harvey - Shortcut To Connect

Haven't picked up any breakbeat or d'n'b for a while, so I just picked this one out at random.

Vivian Girls - Everthing Goes Wrong

A couple of my "lo-fi-garage-rock-expert-friends" swear by the Vivian Girls, although I haven't yet checked them out. How do you like them?
