Sometimes the lyrics do get a bit cheesy, but when I see him compared with Brokencyde or other **** I just don't buy it.

From what I've heard, I don't see how anyone would compare them to Brokencyde. But they are a total Postal Service rip-off, no matter how few albums Postal Service released. Doesn't mean someone can just come in and pick up where they left off without getting some shit.

I can even let rip offs slide on occasion. With Owl City, it isn't even that. For some reason, there is just something about that guy's voice that makes me want to choke a cat.

Mike Patton - Mondo Cane (2010)

Classic pop from 1950-1965 Italy sung and arranged by one of the most talented musicians on the planet. Everyone should get their hands on this ASAP.

Keats - S/T (1984)

An Alan Parsons Project...side project, featuring Colin Blunstone on lead vocals. Very 80's, but in a mostly awesome way, and a hell of a lot better than most of APP's output from the same decade.

I decided to get over my Radiohead embargo and redownload their discography. I still think Radiohead fans are the most annoying mother****ers on the face of the Earth, but I enjoy their music and it's not really mature to dislike a band because their fans are a bunch of cheesy knobs.

I concur. But I still like the band. :D die hard fans of any band are annoying as fuck whether it be Nirvana, Led Zeppelin or Radiohead. But I think Radiohead fans are the worst, which is quite an achievement.

no no I don't think you quite grasp what I mean when I say "Radiohead fan". I mean ANYONE who likes Radiohead, not just the diehards. If you like Radiohead then that's fine, but the moment you start talking to me about "what my favorite album is" or "what do you think Thom York really means" I will **** slap you so hard (or just ignore you). I am very introverted when it comes to the band, I enjoy them but talking about them with other people just makes my guts somersault.

I'm a complicated person.

Oh I also grabbed that Emancipator album because his 2010 album was incredible.

Don't really care enough to strike up an interesting conversation about them so no worries there.
Ok Computer, The Bends, Kid A. well done for that.
The rest of the albums are okay but meh, could live without hearing them ever again.
I find Radiohead fans to be music snobs of the highest order, we all like a few bands that aren't really cool but you like them for what ever reason. They judge you. C**ts.

It does, but I don't talk to myself about their music, I just listen to it and enjoy it then move on with my life.

Like I said, I'm a complicated and deranged person, it all makes sense in my mind.

If you're talking about them and saying how shit they are, then that's normal for someone who isn't a fan of the band :D

What have you got against In Rainbows? It was okay, better than most other post Kid A albums.

What i like about Radiohead though is fairly challenging music which can still be accessible. Listening to Amnesiac and HTTT i didn't like it immediately at the start but grew to like it, whereas In Rainbows just felt like them on autopilot and not really pushing their music as they normally do. It just felt a bit mild.

Hmm that might be why I preferred In Rainbows, more accessible. I think I read that they were going back to their roots with the next effort. Like a 'proper' rock band. Not sure if I'm just imagining it though.

Piss Me Off 04-08-2010 05:37 PM

They said that with HTTT and they didn't really but it was all the better from it. We shall see!

So I take it it leaked? I've heard the live recordings which I liked but it felt a bit samey after a while, and too long. I'm hoping the official release will impress me more. At the very least, it seems shorter and easier to swallow.

scottsy 04-08-2010 10:18 PM

Sounds like an interesting concept at the very least.... not sure if it will be my favorite Patton project though...

sidewinder 04-08-2010 10:57 PM

I doubt it would be my favorite either, considering they're covers. I expect to enjoy it but maybe not love it. Never know.

Amesoeurs - Ruines Humaines

I had downloaded their newest, and unfortunately last album awhile ago and loved it. I'm not sure why it took me so long to get this.. in fact I thought I already had it. There's no doubt whether I'll like it or not. I know I will

Sigur Rós - St Andrews United Church CA - 01.10.2001 FM Webcast

great set! great sound quality too. one of a handful of shows really worth finding if you're a fan...

JoshuaGaler 04-08-2010 11:15 PM

Hmm. oh yeah I remember I downloaded Dido white Discography. I really love her silent songs. The wordings of her songs are like touching to heart.

scottsy 04-08-2010 11:32 PM

Silent Songs... so are they blank gaps in the music that only cats and dogs can hear or something??

sidewinder 04-08-2010 11:33 PM

Knxwledge - Klouds
Some wonky instrumental hip-hop/electronic I just discovered today.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

The Morning Benders - Talking Through Tin Cans
I don't know anything about these guys, but I liked the sound clips. Sounds more interesting then their newer album's samples. My friend said they were opening for Broken Bells, that's the only reason I know the name.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

Dinosaur Jr. - Farm
Been meaning to check this one out for a while. I was never really into them, having only heard You're Living All Over Me and only a few times at that. But I think their new, more mellow sound may be more to my liking. I am old, after all.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

The Fireman - Rushes
Paul McCartney and Martin "Youth" Glover of Killing Joke. Janszoon mentioned them in another thread that I noticed yesterday. The sound clips for this album piqued my interest.

I liked this album, but I felt it was a little too long. Feels like I've been listening ages when I'm only on track 4 or something. :(

NICE! Some people complain about the vocals with The Thermals but man I dig their sound. 'Here's Your Future' is a classic...
